Estonian broadcaster ERR reports, that through the year 2022, Estonia has given international protection to 41 639 Ukrainians (17.08.2023).

A Delfi article from 19.07.2023 has it, that according to data from 16.07.2023, 35 306 Ukrainians have valid temporary protection, and 5249 Ukrainians have applied for international protection since 24.02.2022. The article claims, that there are over 40 000 Ukrainian refugees in Estonia. The Estonian police say, that the actual number of Ukrainian war refugees in Estonia is unknown, because it is not compulsory in Estonia to apply for temporary protection.

An ERR article from 10.10.2022 has it, that since 24.02.2022, there were a little over 60 000 Ukrainian refugees in Estonia, who have chosen to remain in Estonia.

According to Statistics Estonia (stat.ee), the apparently running/current number of citizens of Ukraine in Estonia is 48 712. One can search this data from this specific query page about the number of citizens in Estonia:

• Select Year — 2023
• County — Whole country
• Age group — Age groups total
• Country of birth/citizenship — Country of citizenship
• Country — Ukraine
• Sex — Males and females
• and click on "Show table".

If the parameter "Country of Birth/citizenship" is changed to "Country of birth", the number of Ukrainian-born people in Estonia is 59 320. This number includes people, who were born in Ukraine, but not all of whom might be citizens of Ukraine.

Another table is based on ethnicity:

• Select year 2023; scroll down to select more parameters;
• Sex — Males and females
• County — Whole country
• Ethnic nationality — Ukrainians.

The result is 55 675 ethnic Ukrainians as of the date of this post.
